He flew 727, F-100, A320 with Mexicana before embarking on an adventure with Etihad Airways were he flew A320, A330 and A340 and finally came back to Mexico to retire with Viva on the A320/21 family. At 17:19 local time, Capt. Marco Antonio Ibarra López smoked the mains of his A320 for one last time. After 41+ years flying he chose the final route TAM - MEX to commemorate the city where we learned to fly, Tampico back in 1980. With 24,800 logged for Mexican, Etihad and Viva, it is time to enjoy retirement captain!

On August 4th 2002 my first picture was uploaded to A.net, 20 years later I forgot about the milestone, but 21 I'm celebrating like if it was a year ago and this picture shall make the database on August 4th 2023.
What a better plane to celebrate than a 727, whom still was pretty common 2 decades ago! As sharp as I've ever thrown a night panning, this is one of my favorite pictures ever. Looking forward to the next 20, I thank all of whom have shared my ride this first 20. Cheers!

A section of the "Central de Abastos" (Central Market) mostly used to store wood pallets catches it usual annual fire and the flames expand meters into the air, the smoke column expands for miles and the scene looks dramatic as a Viva plane pushes back for a night flight. Hand held shot.

I was in a hurry to capture both the new A330 and the new colors on MAS Air Cargo since they are due to leave Mexico City Int'l airport (MEX) and move operations to NLU due to a government imposition. The deadline is soon so I knew my options were down to almost none... that was the last picture fired on that spotting day and I'm glad I was able to nail this fine night hand-held shot.
