how did you get onto the A380??
Greeting from HAM/EDDH!
windows? next series get a plugg and play connection for X-box and PS3 ;-)
Great shot!
Since the electronic revolution of the A320, evolution has reached a top point
really great office and pic..
i really looking forward flying with that plane..
thx 4 sharing this pic with us!
And nice to see the camera in the tail...
Good job airbus.
I would like to see in real the most sophisticated and advanced Cockpit in the World.Great Pic!
But how did you manage to get on board???
Great work Andrew :)
Looks like a great place to work at..
But the pic is great ! Good work !!
.....is it just me of is that keyboard floating?! where does it stash? cant see where one would be on the co-pilots side...
Great pic and ur lucky
SJO Spotter
If pilots drop out the coffee in keyboard the airline kills them!!
Ups! Sorrym I got carried away...
This is an Amazing Picture, I've been waiting a very long time for a good shot of the A380 Cockpit. She comes to Sydney at 9.10 this morning!!! Can't Wait to see her!!!
But about Windwos OS will fly?, hopefully not.. because that means before Windows OS was there planes fly on ATARI or same software as Commodore 64? come on.. No No, this is Airbus'own OS! specialy for A380!
can't hardly wait to fasten my belts in a chair in this machine, and take off!
Cheers!
Awesome!
Just a great picture!! The best picture of the A380!!!!
Good job!!!
this is so nice!!
i can't believe they have keyboards too
Microsoft Windows on the A380 is fantastic. I'll happily fly this bird!
The right ND looks more like a topographical view around Changi.
Weather Radar is also offline at Gate.
I dont know but could A380 displays weather Data by uplink on the displays?
Sheesh... apart from that slapstick humor, the cabin looks amazingly modern... Absolutely impressive.
Great piture...
Excellent picture
I was also there when the plane landed. WOW WHAT I SIGHT IT WAS. Im also looking forward to going to Adelaide and Melbourne to see it too,
P.S. Im only 14 :) and once again gr8 pciture
By the way there are 550 plus passengers behind you.
"Warning: This may cause you to fall out of the sky!"
I wonder if the crew have to work a lot with this marvelous cockpit .
The A-380 its a clear example of what can electronics systems do for us.
Thomas Loh
BTW it's only the electronic flightbag that runs on windows, which is separated from the rest of the system. Imagine to play Fs2004 in the cockpit with the actual A380 controls...
First cockpit view. Great!!!!!!
Very well done!
be some
fast jumping over the pond! And thanks to the cameras in tail, there will also be a "spot plane" view!
amazing cockpit.
And i'm also only 15 ;)
hehe.
But, a great shot..
I hope those computers will be running Mac, not Windows. If they're running Windows, I hope the airlines at least install flightsim, so that their pilots can have some fun. AIM and MSN messenger might be nice too...:
On the international space station, they also have Windows machines also for non critical stuff, and the crew ends up spending much time fixing problems on those machines.
I can't believe Airbus would be stupid enough to put 2 Microsoft boxes in the cockpit. I would hope that Airbus make a very public statement about this denying there is any microsoft software in the cockpit otherwise the public will avoid that aircraft like the plague.
this is a great shot! BUT I DON'T like the joysticks!!
:)B7Sté7
Do they have a broadband connection on this plane? so the pilot can enjoy the online games while cruising at FL350 :-P
Hey people, did you notice the MS-DOS command prompt window at the lower right of those ms windows sceen??? is it use to run IPCONFIG or just PING to check the lag with a co-pilot???
-Arch-
On no, is it MS Windows on the screens?
The grey things in the middle looking like a pair of boobs is the trackball to move the cursor on the FMC.
Boeing is using a trackpad system, Airbus however preferes the trackball cause it should be more reliable during bad weather conditions ;-)
Maybe these monitors are simply like built-in PCs and you can install whatever operating system you wish.
These too balls near from the throttle are a track ball for FMS.
just one one word... WWOW!!!!!
The future is on is way...
And well I hope the computers run OSX Tiger so they could also fly on X-plane the very same plane, (it has UDP output) while downloading songs from the iTunes store ;-)
Best regards
OK - other planes look similar already. Just the big screens on the side are bigger. And the keyboard is new. And yes, there is a lot of room to the sides. If wonder whether the pilots are abel to look out of the side windows without to leave their seats? ;-)
Maybe no pilots but software eengineers are flying. On route they have to work as a software developer ;-)
stable and longer lived Win2000 is the OS.

About the "windows" things: Electronic Flight Bags as they were installed on B777-300ER are made of 2 separated computer systems on each side of the cockpit, the master system being Linux and the second one Windows. They hold just some PDF like files (at least vectored graphics) and as a matter of safety you can still have the paper version with you while flying just in case...
So even if the 2 screen shows Win95 it's not an issue with safety as the flight controls units and FMS are made of wery different birds and OSes than your most stable public version of Linux
I love the foldout keyboard and the easy-to-read GPS display.
The "computer keyboard like" apparatuses for the left hand seat. The fearless demonstration of "secret" or "confidential" equipment and control features vis-Ã -vis the tough competition. A technical wonder.
---WELCOME TO LA ROCHELLE, France -------
No conventional steering wheels anymore.
These have been replaced with "sticks" just like fighter jets.
Looks like the captain must be left handed to manage the stick. What if the co-pilot promoted to captain? Might have some degree of difficulty handling the stick control. It could have been perfect but with no coffee handler??
Once again... airbus impresses me with cutting edge aircraft engeneering!! great picture that captures the novelty of the A380
in an ordinary aircraft. this is the first time
ive seen an aircraft without a wheel just joysticks
william watkins
And with so many other choices...
I'm a bit worried about the MS Windows-base shootem-up screen each pilot has... And look at the in-flight gaming joysticks they get! We get rubbish nitendo-style ones in economy class...

By the way, it looks like a real office (but were is the secretary?)jeje...
Me very impressed! Im shocked.

Ahhh!!! 437 comments... that's the pic with most comment that I ever see in A.net (I think everyone loves the a380), me too.

Unbelievable,Well Done.

one day i hope i will be able to be the captain and fly in it
Regards from AKL.
and I want to be a pilot of this aircraft Only
I was surprised by seeing Windows operating software on the computer screens. I thought Airbus would probably have written their own OS...
Furthermore, I'm surprised by seeing that the captain must fly the plane left-handed, while the FO is flying right-handed (check the joysticks). I'm right-handed myself, and I would probably be a bit confused as captain. Try for example to control your mouse with your not-used-to-hand... However, I'm not a captain (unfortunately) and I assume they're having enough training to get used to it :P.
Bill
instruments. Awesome!
f**k yeah
technologie.
The joy sticks, the laptops,..amazing!
J.C.
One thing bothers me though... doesn't it seem very strange to be flying the World's LARGEST airliner using just a less than half-foot joystick? o_O

i like it very much this site...
