I have looked on the Terminal B at Zürich how this plane rotate from Rwy 16! During the take-off, I heard 3 or 4 very loud bangs and then I saw the fire which came out of Engine 2. I took my camera and made a shot. What luck to see the flame because she was only visible for a few seconds! I think the gasturbine had an choked or stalled compressor, which results in compressor surge. Maybe the bleedvalves or the variable stator vanes were reacting too slowly. Great shot!

Photo made at the accurate moment, therefore of the opposite would not obtain such visual effect.

At this time I was a flight attendant in VASP.Four days after this photo, this MD-11 gone to Brussels.I was there,as a crew member, to do the return flight to Brazil, but when the aircraft arrived, the engine n°2,was like a "flower".Yes the anti-icing exploded! So, I had to stay there "9 days",waiting the fix service. All the parts came from LAX.WOW!!!!
