Almost suffering a tail-strike on departure on a stormy day with measured gusts of up to 60 knots. This was the last departure from Rwy 18 on that afternoon.

Wow, that's really close. I wonder what the airline would say if they saw this picture.

Very nice picture. Does the 777 have a tail strike avoidance system in its fly by wire?

Wow. Any more rotation and he gets himself a nice little tail strike. Interesting color contrast between the plane and the sky though.

Great shot. If I understand correctly the -200 doesn't have tailstrike protection but the -300 with its longer fuselage does, so this rotation was 100% 'pilot'!

He is more like 3 milimeters from losing his job!

Amazing shot of a near tail strike. That had to be a 1 foot clearance for the most. Photographer had perfect timing in the perfect place.

If it had tail-strike protection it would be an tail-strike!

The parts of this photo that appeal to me are:

As others have said: there is great contrast between the pinky-gold main body of the B772 and the sky with good saturation.

The photographer also needed to be on the button (irony intended!) to catch a shot of something doing 170 - 190 knots in the split second that it nearly tailstruck.

It also documents a very close encounter of the grazed backside type!

This is an amazing photo because tailstrikes are so scary.

Perfect timing and angle by both the photographer and the pilot.

I guess with 60 kts gusts the pilot was a little too eager to be airborne, close call indeed, amazing picture!
