OMG! Must have been quite scary for the man under the aircraft :D Although I think it was not quite nice for the people in the cars too! Through the next year or two this might be the ''top viewed photo of all time''
A fenomenal job with the photo. I always get impresed with theese SXM approaches

Good photo, but it seems like at this rate they are going to clip the fence! I belive that, they did a little bit of adjusting in order to clear that fence.
Anonymous

Why is too low if the plane has plenty of runway ahead.
Anonymous

5 stars.... Did I dream ? The cockpit window seems to be open ? The dog probably don't know that he is the luckiest one on earth !

5 Stars, for this great shot of SXM!
Anonymous
Someone said they can tell he's too slow... I'd bet he's on that throttle full-on at this moment till he clears that fence... ;-)
Anonymous
I bet the person in the shadow, after being frozen in place by fear and disbelief, ran to change his pants afterwards! I don't see how this clown cleared the fence, unless he was climbing, which is another scary thought!! But that could explain his AOA.

Crazy pilot! Great picture - 5 stars!

Look at that man under the plane`s shadow! He must be thinking: What? Who took the lights off? Oh, it`s one of those planes again..
(Pilot has courage to land on this runway that day..)

Holy Mackeral! Very soon one of these planes will 'Go Below the Belt'. Thanks, Rotate, for sharing an 'Extremely Low' picture here.

I wonder how close he overflew the black car and the perimetral fence...next time he could try to cath it with an arresting hook! ;P

So this is how they check the main gear for malfunctions?... Great shot for you... headache for the sunbather
Anonymous
Really amazing this photo and the approach, but I must say that I think that such as it is beatiful, it is dangerous... people are below very close, and also the hotel!!! I am astonished!! beatiful and awful at the same time... really!! regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina... Tony

"How Low Can You Go?" Many pilots would probably answer: As low as the ground allow!. Nice pic!

Love the shadows on the two people on the beach! Great shot! SXM is one of the great reasons for going to St. Maarten.

This photo is excellent. IMHO the PF should have been a bit higher on short finals- why in the world was he so low?! Anyhow, the photo is great not only because of the location, but it captured such a high AOA and I love the timing concerning the shadow over the beachers!
Anonymous
I don't know what the guy thinks, but is very cool.
Anonymous
Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!! Must have came pretty close to the fence too!

Would you prefer this little aircraft, or a 747?
747 all the way. :)

Timing. Everything in this photo screams "Timing!"... the angle of the airplane, the height of the airplane, the shadow, and... ooops, almost forgot, the idiot on the beach sitting smack-dab in the middle of an over-water approach to a short runway! (I would capitalize "idiot", but the instructions for this comment page tell me not to use CAPS!)

Very steep approaching.... great shot
i wouldn't like to be under this plane with these pilots
Anonymous
The photograph is super. The scary thing is seeing how far the fence away still is, and seeing how low the airfract is at that moment bound to be very close to clipping that fence. Looks like hes trying to pull up a bit
Anonymous
The guy under the plane doesn't look phased at all.
Anonymous
Wow thats low it seems like that guy under the plane could just stand up and grab onto the landing gear
Anonymous
Lol i bet pilots do that just to scare the life out of people on the beach
Anonymous

Was the FO trying to checkout the girls at the pool in the hotel... if you see closer he's lookin like TOO LOW.. TOO LOW PULL UP!
Anonymous
Ahh! i wouldn't fly this low if were you.
Anonymous
I find it ironic that this cowboy pilot is flying an aircraft based in Texas (state flag on the tail). There is no need to come in this low. A Falcon has one of the shortest landing distance of any jet, so why risk ripping the gear off? Stupid...
Anonymous
Yikes! i wouldn't be this close if i were you
Anonymous
I have heard about pilots needing to land quickly but this takes the biscuit!. No way on this earth would a sensible Pilot bring in his plane so low on approach, when the runway he is landing on is long enough to take a 747! Great picture
Anonymous
Too low! Beach spectators! Woop! Woop!
Anonymous

Surely not going to be able to cross the threshold? Has to be a go-around. Great pic!

Great shot but thats one very dangerous landing.

"Hey, five dollars says I can touch the landing gears!"

Wow, that's low.

This for me is the ultimate SXM photo(I have spent a week there). The aircraft I reckon is 12 ft above the sand but not decending..hence the high AOA,he holds this to over the fence(around 5ft+)This is pure speculation the co Pilot is looking right for a visual reference re.altitude.

Look at the guy sitting right beneath the plane, as if nothing special happened at the moment! nice catch!
Anonymous

I don't think the spectator is as close at it seems. The shadow is an optical illusion and the man is probably closer to the edge of the left wing. You can see the suns reflection on the right side of the fuselage, casting a shadow down and to the left.

No, look at the comm antenna on the vertical stab. The Sun is straight overhead.

That has to be one of the lowest approaches ever. That guy could literally stand up and touch the landing gear. I hope nobody was riding the fence, because they would have been run over.

'Yes,' the Wide-Body Heavy Jets have to come across the Beach 'Low,' but this Guy in a Falcon Business Jet is just showing off and absolutely did not need to be that 'Low' over St Maarten's Maho Beach! Princess Juliana's runway 10/28 is 7,546 feet long, more than enough for a little 'Falcon!' The Guy's a 'Hotdog,' and as far as Jets go, He's got a little 'Wiener!'
